As to why, sometimes, a male jury can be fairer in their judgements than a jury made up of women.... Sadly, in some cases, women will refuse to accept what another woman says happened to her. It's part of the "belief in a just world" syndrome. In this case, the women cannot face that it could happen to them, so have a need to concoct a world where are safe from this experience happening to them. They numb their minds and the fears by believing that there is balance in the world and justice. So, if something heinous happened to another woman either the woman is lying or she was in control of her life and did something to deserve it in some way. I believe this is especially true in women who feel relatively powerless in their lives. The less powerful the woman feels in the world, the more likely she is to need to cling to a mental image in which she is safe from such an experience happening to her. Most of this can be explained through Social Psychology.
